Shawn Askinosie quit his job as a lawyer to create this delicious, hand-crafted chocolate, which he makes with the help of his family in the Ozarks of Missouri.

From his About Us, on when he started making chocolate, "I was excited, and challenged, to learn that if I made chocolate from the bean, I’d be one of the only people in the country doing so. If I also sourced and imported the beans directly myself, so that my customers and I would know precisely where our chocolate came from, I’d be among the first to apply that common-sense principle to chocolate-making. If I were to treat cocoa farmers like business partners—with fairness, dignity, and respect, while making sure they receive their fair share of the income—I’d be one of the only people doing that, too."

-72% Dark Chocolate: BKLYN Larder's go-to cheese board chocolate bar. Askinosie's first new origin since 2010, and second chocolate bar produced in partnership with a female-led farmer group (the first is Tanzania). Made in partnership with Askinosie's lead farmer in the Amazon, Monica. It’s their second endeavor with a female-led farmer group. Handcrafted single origin 72% dark chocolate (67% cocoa solids and 5% cocoa butter, pressed in their factory) with cocoa beans sourced directly from Monica’s small farmer group and certified organic cane sugar. That's it. Certified Kosher D.E., vegan, and gluten free Tasting notes: Earthy richness, fudge, and hints of raisin and mocha.
