Founded in 1950, Jarritos hit the Mexican market in unlabeled bottles. Customers would select the flavor, simply by color. In 1988 Jarritos crossed the boarder and became the top selling Hispanic market product in the USA.
Jarritos translates to goat shoes in German, and as a cheese shop, we love the nod to one of our favorite dairy animals. But it's the translation from Spanish - "little jugs" - that recalls the history of serving agua fresca in clay jugs to keep them cool.
